Praise Him With the Strings
Its true, and most of you who know me would agree, I want nothing more from this life than to fulfill what i believe is my propose here . So im starting a new chapter in my life, one that I’m sure will involve posts full of excitement and posts full of doubt. I’m not going to go into details now, in fact I’ve decided to play this pretty close to the chest for now, but know that when the time comes, the whopping 1 person who reads this, thanks dad, will be among the first to know.
[And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us. And if our God is with us, then what could stand against]
What are you saying…
…or rather, what are you not saying. I don’t know about you but every now and then I look back at a situation and wonder, “why didn’t I say, what I wanted to say?” I think that the plain answer is that we are scared, scared to speak our minds because someone might think of us as different. It’s interesting, everybody always makes the claim that they want to be different, they believe that they want to stand out but when the time comes to be different, many of us simply shrink back and coast as usual. I recently had lunch with my dad where we discussed death. Now you might find that weird but for me it was incredible. You see, we were discussing that as Christians, we find ourselves much less afraid. Afraid of the things life throws our way, but also less and less afraid of death.
With Christ as your friend and heaven as your home, the day of death becomes
sweeter than the day of birth. -Max Lucado
I think that as Christians that we can take more away from this, you see Jesus said that he came to bring us life and life to the fullest. How many of us deeply desire that full life, and how many of us today could look in the mirror and say we are living it? I believe it is fear that holds us back from experiencing the life that Christ died to give us.
So maybe the next time that you are afraid, you don’t panic, maybe instead you thank God for the life he has given you, maybe you speak the words you know you should, or you take that chance you were afraid to. All I know is that it is when we cast our fears down at the cross that we can truly live, and when we can truly live we live in Gods glory.
2 commentsI really don’t do this enough…
… and I don’t think you do either. I mean, how often is it that we just sit in silence and listen. Even the thought of it makes us uncomfortable, why would we just sit, that seems like a waste of time. What if that was the exact opposite of what is actually true? What if sitting and listening turned out to be one of the most important things we could do during our day? I recently went on a retreat where a friend of mine, Rebbecca, spoke on this very topic.
“How often do we just turn everything off and listen to what God has to say?” -Rebecca Juneau
We turn on our CNNs, NBCs, ABCs, MTVs, DVDs, I-P-O-Ds, and everything that makes noise in order to escape what is really right in front of us that we are small and that facing our lives from day to day, no from second, to second can be really scary. Now, I think it is important to say that I am not condemning any of the above mentioned noise makers, I am simply saying that from time to time, maybe, just maybe we should turn them off, take a breathe, and realize that we are never alone. We could realize in the silence that the scariness and vastness of a world of which we are so small can fade away by realizing that the God who created everything is inside of the breath we just took.
“That the spirit of God is moving and flowing through us and that makes us… Holy. -Rob Bell
So maybe when you are done reading this, (If anyone reads this lol), maybe for a moment just turn everything off, and Breathe.
